A Letter of Thanks Sep.9, 2002Dear Mr. Zhang: Tom and I both want to thank you for the kindness you showed Ian when he visited your family last month. He has returned filled with enthusiasm for China. As it was his first time to call on a Chinese family, at first he was very anxious about his limited Chinese and his knowledge of Chinese customs. At the station when he saw you and your family with warm smiles of welcome on your faces, he immediately knew that everything was going to be fine. You and your wonderful family put him at ease right away. There are many happy memories that he will keep with him forever. Above all, he enjoyed your hospitality. Then he particularly enjoyed making dumplings with you. "The most delicious food I've ever had in the world," he said. He liked playing Taiji with you. You were very patient with him and full of fun. He said China is a wonderful country, so I hope I can visit China some day. I'm looking forward to it. He is back at school again now and he is very happy because he knows now a real Chinese family and it is one of the nicest families he has ever met.
